Three Spideys are preparing to swing into Japan next spring, and anime fans will have no trouble identifying their new voices.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is already playing in the US, featuring Miles Morales finally making the jump from comincs to the big screen as the new Spidey. The trio of radioactive-spider-bite-havers assemble from across multiple universes to take down Kingpin.
The upcoming Japanese dub of the film will also feature a wide selection of well-known animated heroes. Dubbing Miles Morales is Kensho Ono, currently starring as Giorno Giovanna in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind. Ono says it's long been a dream of his to play a Marvel hero, and in particular likes playing Miles as he tries to grow into being our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.
Appearing as Miles's reluctant mentor Peter Parker is Mamoru Miyano, who can be heard now as Kotaro Tatsumi in Zombie Land Saga. Miyano says he's surprised and honored, as he never thought the day would come that he'd play Peter Parker. He adds, "Finally, I'm playing an adult!"
And Yuki Aoi, famous for playing Madoka in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, appears as Gwen Stacey. Aoi enjoys the role, admitting that she's not sure how she'd hide a superhero identity like Spider-Woman from her parents. She also loves Gwen's costume, especially the hood and shoes.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse opens in Japan on March 8, 2019.
