Shonen Jump Will Be Free to Read, New $1.99 Premium Plan Announced

Get access to most of the Jump manga released in English for a pittance

There's officially no excuse not to get your new shonen manga straight from the legit source. Viz Media's English Shonen Jump announced some major changes, the most substantial of which involves making the digital magazine free for all to read.

Hisashi Sasaki—who has worked as both the editor of the Japanese and English Shonen Jump—released a video highlighting these changes, including the fact that fans will be able to read all the newest manga on the same day as Japan for free. Chapters are viewable both on the Shonen Jump website and the app.

Beyond that, all it costs is $1.99 a month for Shonen Jump members to get access to new chapters as well as a back catalog of nearly everything Shonen Jump has ever released in English. As Sasaki says in the video below, becoming a member both supports and respects the mangaka you love.

The new Jump era begins on December 17.
