See MADKID's Cool Performance in The Rising of the Shield Hero OP Theme MV

Kinema Citrus-animated fantasy is simulcast on Crunchyroll

Five-member Japanese dance and vocal unit MADKID has posted a full music video for their latest third single "RISE" on Nipppon Columbia's official YouTube channel. The song is now featured as the OP theme for the TV anime adaptation of Aneko Yusagi's fantasy light novel The Rising of the Shield Hero, which premiered in Japan last night.


The unit was originally formed by KENTO, KAZUKI, RIKITO, LIN, YUKI in May 2014 with its first name "J-BOYS-5," then changed its name to "MADKID" two months later. In September of the year, KENTO, who served as its initial leader, left the unit and was replaced by the current leader YOU-TA. They released their major debut single "Never going back" from Nippon Columbia in January 2018. The CD singles of their third single "RISE," which is their first anime tie-up song, will be released on February 6, 2019.

The TV anime The Rising of the Shield Hero is animated by Kinema Citrus (Scorching Ping Pong Girls,

Made in Abyss) with Takao Abo (Norn9) directing. Its first episode is already available to Crunchyroll

Premium members, with subsequent episodes launching every Wednesday for Crunchyroll members

worldwide except Asia.
