Gunnm Manga Author Draws Promotional Visual for Alita: Battle Angel's Japanese Release

He says, "The core part of the manga is brilliantly passed on to the film."

To promote the upcoming Japanese release, the official Japanese Twitter for Alita: Battle Angel

has posted a new promotional visual featuring a newly drawn art by Yukito Kishiro, the original

author of Japanese cyberpunk manga Gunnm, on which the live-action film is based. This visual

will be featured on the cover of the next issue of Kodansha's Evening manga magazine to be

released on February 12.

The Twitter also introduces the manga author's comment on the long-awaited film:

"The core part of the manga was brilliantly passed on to the film. Including the characters' emotion

and raison d'etre, they were perfectly reflected in the film, so I was very happy."

The live-action adaptation directed by Robert Rodriguez (Spy Kids, Sin City) will be released in

Japan on February 22, one week later than its US release.
