The world of trademark filings may not always be exciting, but it's worth noting a few that Square Enix recently filed in the United States and the UK. Starting with the former, Square Enix filed trademarks for both Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy Adventure in the U.S., and the company also recently filed a trademark for Parasite Eve in the United Kingdom.
Originally released in Japan as Seiken Densetsu 2 before coming to Super Nintendo in the west under the title we know it as today, Secret of Mana got a 3D remake on PS4, PS Vita, and PC last year. The first entry in the series—which debuted as Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden in Japan and made it to North America as Final Fantasy Adventure—was last seen in 3D remake form a couple years ago under the name Adventures of Mana.
Considering the fact that both of the recent remakes have been released outside of Japan, the filings could hint at another port, or even plans to bring the Japan-only Seiken Densetsu Collection to the west. Or it could be nothing; it's all just fun speculation at the moment.
As for Parasite Eve, the UK filing follows a November 2018 filing in Europe, the latter of which didn't see a release of the first Parasite Eve game. Stay tuned to find out if anything comes of this in the future.
