Existentialist Author Joins the Cast of Bungo Stray Dogs TV Anime

Adaptation pitting super-powered detectives vs. super-powered criminals returns to Japanese TV in April of 2019

New details have been revealed for the principal antagonist of the third season of Bungo Stray Dogs, a TV anime that re-imagines influential authors of Japanese and Western literature as super-powered detectives and super-powered criminals that battle for control over the city of Yokohama.

In season three of Bungo Stray Dogs, voice actor Akira Ishida plays Fyodor D., the leader of the group of underground thieves known "The House of the Dead". When the Guild attacked Yokohama, Fyodor attempted to influence events from the shadows by taking control of Moby Dick's systems. His ability is called "Crime and Punishment", and Dazai refers to Fyodor as an "evil sorcerer".

Based on the light novels written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa, Bungo Stray Dogs is directed by Takuya Igarashi and features animation production by BONES. Crunchyroll currently streams the first two seasons of the TV anime as well as the Bungo Stray Dogs theatrical anime film, and describes the story of the series as follows:

Kicked out of his orphanage and on the verge of starving to death, Nakajima Atsushi meets some strange men. One of them, Dazai Osamu, is a suicidal man attempting to drown himself in broad daylight. The other, bespectacled Kunikida Doppo, nervously stands by flipping through a notepad. Both are members of the "Armed Detective Agency" said to solve incidents that even the military and police won't touch. Atsushi ends up accompanying them on a mission to eliminate a man-eating tiger that's been terrorizing the population...

The third season of Bungo Stray Dogs will broadcast in Japan beginning in April of 2019.
