Girl Band Gacharic Spin Gets a Tezuka-Style Makeover

10th anniversary album features Phoenix-inspired art straight from Tezuka Pro

Girl band Gacharic Spin is celebrating their tenth anniversary this year with a "Best Of" album — featuring a unique and recognizable cover!

Tezuka Pro has collaborated with the group to create album art inspired by Tezuka's manga Phoenix. The art features all five members of the band, as well as the title character. The new piece was drawn by Shigeto Ikehara, who became a student of Tezuka's in 1970 and is also a big fan of the band. The art shows that, like the phoenix, the band will live on.

Ikehara says he discovered the band about six years ago via a video for their song "Lock On!!" and has been following them ever since. He took special care to convey each member's personality in the traditional Tezuka art style.

The album will be available as a single CD, 3-CD set, or special-edition 3-CD set with Blu-Ray.
