Two More Hunters Join the Fray in To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts TV Anime

Adaptation based on dark fantasy manga by MAYBE will broadcast in Japan in 2019

Two additional cast members have been revealed for To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts, an upcoming TV anime based on the dark fantasy manga by MAYBE about monstrous, super-powered soldiers struggling to find peaceful lives after the bloody civil war that created them ends and renders their unique skills obsolete. The new cast members include:

Kaito Ishikawa as Claude, a young major assigned to the Northern Patria Union army. Claude is from a distinguished family, and he leads the unit "Coup de Grace", which hunts Incarnate Soldiers that have gone rogue. Due to unique circumstances from his past, Claude bears an especially strong personal grudge against Incarnate Soldiers.

And Yōko Hikasa as Liza, a handler who works for the Northern Patria Union army's post-war intelligence bureau and who supports Hank in his role as a Beast Hunter. Liza cares about Hank, and she takes a big-sisterly attitude towards him and Schaal.

The original To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts manga is serialized in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine, and an English language version is also published by Vertical, Inc., who describe the story as follows:

During a protracted civil war that pitted the North against the South, the outnumbered Northerners used dark magical arts to create monstrous super-soldiers—Incarnates. Now that the war has ended, those Sacred Beasts must learn how to make their way in a peaceful society, or face death at the hands of a Beast Hunter...

Nancy Schaal Bancroft, the daughter of an Incarnate soldier who met an untimely end at the hands of one such Beast Hunter, turns to hunting the hunter herself. But once she catches up with her quarry, she discovers hard truths about the lives of the Incarnates...

The To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts TV anime is directed by Jun Shishido and features animation production by MAPPA. The series will broadcast in Japan in 2019.
