Hello Kitty to Get Her First Hollywood Film Adaptation

Beau Flynn (Rampage, Skyscraper) serves as producer


Japanese merchandising company Sanrio and Warner Brothers Japan announced today that a film

adaptation project based on Sanrio's popular characters including Hello Kitty is now in the works by

Warner Bros.' New Line Cinema (The Lord of the Rings series) and FlynnPictureCo., and that the film

will be distributed by Warner Bros. worldwide.


Beau Flynn, known for his producing works for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's recent big budget action

flicks (San Andreas, Hercules, Rampage, Skyscraper) serves as producer, alongside executive producer

Wendy Jacobson (Skyscraper executive producer).


According to Sanrio's press release, the project is still in development stage. In addition to its release

schedule, how it is created (live-action, CG, or animation) has also not yet been decided.
