"Beast love" series returns to Japanese theaters with another round of animated shorts in April of 2019
A Polar Bear in Love, a mini-anime based on the "beast love" manga by Koromo, is returning to Japanese theaters for another round of animated shorts, and this time voice actor Tetsuya Kakihara is joining the cast as a good-natured Emperor penguin named Cathy. Cathy (full name: Catherine) is described as a friendly character who supports Seal and Polar Bear in their love and offers them romantic advice.
Known as Koi Suru Shirokuma in Japan, the original A Polar Bear in Love manga is published on the Pixiv Comic and Comic Walker websites. Kadokawa also publishes printed volumes under their Media Factory Comics label, and an English language is available from Yen Press, who describe the story as follows:
A polar bear falls in love with a seal, but the seal thinks the polar bear is trying to eat it!
The A Polar Bear in Love mini-anime is directed by Kazuya Ichikawa and features animation production by Gathering. Like the earlier series of shorts from 2017 and 2018, the latest set of shorts will run in some 50 Japanese movie theaters nationwide as part of the pre-film entertainment package beginning on April 05, 2019.
