Anime Film Summer Wars Launches 10th Anniversary Project

Event theme announced as "UPDATE"

Mamoru Hosoda's much-loved film Summer Wars turns 10 this year, and events are already being planned to celebrate the occasion.

The string of events, which has announced a theme of "UPDATE," will kick off with a special traveling version of Hosoda's MIRAI exhibit. The collection of sets and materials, which includes elements from Hosoda's other films, will be making a stop in Ueda, where Summer Wars is set. Visitors to the events will be able to pick up limited-edition merchandise.

More events will be announced over the course of the year. As Hosoda doesn't have a film coming out in 2019, his focus has turned to this 10th anniversary celebration instead. Attention is also being given to the Digimon Adventure film, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and which Hosoda co-directed.

The Ueda stop of the MIRAI exhibit will be open from July 6 to September 1.
