New animated project is based on Gamu's web comic about African-native animals as Japanese office workers
Voice actors Akio Ōtsuka, Kenjiro Tsuda, and Hiro Shimono don animal-themed face paint in the announcement video for Africa no Salaryman (known in English as African Office Worker or Businessmen in Africa), an upcoming TV anime based on the surreal office comedy web comic by Gamu that re-imagines creatures native to the continent of Africa as office workers in modern-day Japan.
So far, few details about the new anime production have been revealed, although it is known that Tetsuya Tatamitani of HOTZIPANG is attached as the director and that Ōtsuka, Tsuda, and Shimono will play the roles of Lion, Lizard, and Toucan, respectively.
The original Africa no Salaryman web manga is serialized on the Pixiv Comics web site. The series is also published in print collections by Media Factory, a division of Kadokawa, under their MFC Gene Pixiv Series label. Africa no Salaryman was also previously adapted in 2017 into a mini-anime with animation production by Production I.G for the "Anime Beans" smart phone app.
