Internationally acclaimed director's highly-anticipated new film hits Japanese theaters July 19, 2019
The petition's proposer Dainell Jackson says, "There is a handful of community in India that enjoy watching anime films and shows and with that comes the question of piracy. We all want to be patriots and stop this by legally watching the film." So far it has attracted more than 16,600 signatures.
Meanwhile, one fan in the country directly asked Shinkai about the possibility of the film's legal release in India. The director posted his answer in English as below.

Shinkai's seventh feature film is scheduled to be released in Japan on July 19, 2019, distributed by Toho.
As with his mega hit previous film Kimi no Na wa./Your Name. in 2016, the distributor plans its world-
wide release, but no details have yet been revealed.
