Prepare to join the magical battle!
After two years of watching wistfully afar, we have been rewarded: Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica [Side Story] is getting an official Western release!
The smartphone game has been a huge hit in Japan, with a stage adaptation already behind it and an anime series on the way. Now, fans overseas can take part in the latest timeline, in which magical girls gather in the burgeoning Kamihama City. The strange city has an even stranger power: magical girls can battle there without becoming Witches, and even harness the power of Witches as powerful final forms called Doppels.
New magical girl Iroha Tamaki has come there hoping to save her sister Ui. And, of course, Madoka and her team are there, too. You'll also be able to roll for tons of new and familiar characters to build your team as you fight your way through an all new story.
A campaign is currently underway on the game's English-language Facebook page and Twitter account, inviting prospective players to interact for in-game gifts. If each character's trailer hits a certain amount of views, a new present will be waiting for players once the game goes live.
Aniplex of America president Shu Nishimoto is excited about offering the game to a wider audience. "As a tent pole within the magical girl genre, Madoka has had an impact on many anime fans throughout the years and we hope fans enjoy meeting Iroha and the other Magical Girls of Kamihama City through this mobile game."
Magia Record: Puella Magi Madika Magica [Side Story] comes to iOS and Android this summer.
