Adaptation based on Izumi Ito's 4-panel comic about an unlikely friendship hits TBS on July 11, 2019
The opening and ending theme song performers have been revealed for Machikado Mazoku, an upcoming TV anime based on the 4-panel fantasy comedy manga by Izumi Ito about a demon girl who becomes best friends with a magical girl.
The opening theme, entitled "Machikado Tangent" ("Street Corner Tangent"), is performed by shami momo, a voice unit composed of Yuko Yoshida (CV: Konomi Kohara) and Momo Chiyoda (CV: Akari Kitō). The ending theme, entitled ""Yoimachi Canter", is performed by Koro Machikado, a voice unit composed of Yuko Yoshida (CV: Konomi Kohara), Momo Chiyoda (CV: Akari Kitō), Lilith (CV: Minami Takahashi), and Mikan Hanatsuki (CV: Tomoyo Takanagi). The lyrics for the ending theme are by Machikado Mazoku author Izumi Ito. Both songs will be released on CD in Japan on August 08, 2019.
The original Machikado Mazoku manga is serialized in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine. The story follows Yuko Yoshida, a 15 year old girl who suddenly develops dark powers and discovers that she is the descendent of a tribe of demons. Yuko is tasked with defeating the maidens of the Tribe of Light (i.e. magical girls) by her ancestor, Lilith, so Yuko challenges magical girl Momo Chiyoda to a fight. However, Yuko is not a very strong demon girl, so Momo is easily defeats her. Afterwards, the two strike up an unlikely friendship.
The Machikado Mazoku TV anime is directed by Hiroaki Sakurai and features animation production by J.C. Staff. The series will broadcast in Japan on Tokyo Broadcasting System beginning on July 11, 2019, with an additional broadcast to follow on BS-TBS beginning on July 13, 2019.
