Japan Box Office: Uta no Prince-sama Film Keeps Its Strong Momentum

"Free!" TV anime third season's compilation film tops Pia's first day satisfaction ranking

 

Even in its fourth weekend, the Uta no Prince-sama franchise's first feature film Uta no Prince-sama The Movie: Maji LOVE Kingdom  isn't slowing down at the Japanese box office. With a current total of 750 million yen, it has become the tenth highest-grossing anime film of this year.

 

The 84-minute film ranked sixth in its fourth weekend of July 6-7, which was same as its third weekend. Surprisingly, its fourth weekend gross total was 20% up from its previous weekend, pushing its domestic cume over 750 million yen with the 467,000 ticket sales. It is expected to surpass the one billion yen mark by the end of this month.

 

Meanwhile, Free! ~Road to the World~ Yume (Dream), the compilation film based on the third season of the Free! TV anime series, Free! - Dive to the Future, was released in 73 theaters and ranked ninth in its opening weekend. Its actual box office revenue number has not yet been confirmed, but it topped Pia's first day satisfaction ranking with a very good 93.0 approval rating.
