RADWIMPS' Weathering With You Songs Dominate Japan's Digital Charts

The soundtrack album was released simultaneously with the film in Japan

According to the latest Oricon sales report, four-member Japanese rock band RADWIMPS"Ai ni Dekiru koto wa Mada Arukai" (Is There Still Anything That Love Can Do?), one of the five theme songs for Makoto Shinkai's new anime feature film Tenki no Ko/Weathering With You, sold 55,000 downloads in its first week to become the top-selling song in the weekly digital single chart of July 15-21. This is the first time for them to take the No.1 position in the first week of their song's release.

In addition, "Grand Escape (Movie edit) feat. Touko Miura" from the film ranked second with 41,000 downloads. As a result, RADWIMPS becomes the second artists who dominate the digital chart's first and second places at the same time, after Kenshi Yonezu (June 4, 2018/November 12, 2018/January 7, 2019).

The soundtrack album including five vocal songs and 26 instrumental tunes by the band was released on July 19, the same day as the film's theatrical release in Japan. The album itself sold 13,000 downloads in its first week, becoming the top-selling digital album of the week. From the album, "Daijyobu (Movie edit)" and "Shukusai (Movie edit) feat. Touko Miura" also ranked seventh (12,000 DL) and ninth (9,941 DL), respectively.
