Criterion Collection Goes Big With 15-Film Showa Godzilla Bluray Set

The Criterion Collection, a film distribution company that specializes in high-quality home video releases for movies both artistic and arcane, has announced that they're going old-school for their 1000th release with a giant-sized Bluray collection featuring everyone's favorite Toho Studios monster entitled "Godzilla: The Showa-Era Films, 1954–1975".



The "Godzilla: The Showa-Era Films, 1954–1975" features 15 films on 8 Bluray discs, including:


  • Godzilla (1954) (aka Gojira, also includes the 1956 Americanized version, Godzilla: King of the Monsters)
  • Godzilla Raids Again (1955)
  • King Kong vs. Godzilla (1963, includes the Japanese version of the film)
  • Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964)
  • Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (1964)
  • Invasion of Astro-Monster (1965)
  • Ebirah, Horror of the Deep (1966)
  • Son of Godzilla (1967)
  • Destroy All Monsters (1968)
  • All Monsters Attack (1969)
  • Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971)
  • Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972)
  • Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973)
  • Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974)
  • Terror of Mechagodzilla (1975)

The set also includes lots of goodies and extra features, including audio commentaries and interviews. The "Godzilla: The Showa-Era Films, 1954–1975" Bluray set has an MSRP of $224.95 US, and it will be released on October 29, 2019.
