Blade of the Immortal Anime Slices Up Amazon Prime Video in October

Main cast, main staff, teaser trailer, and a new key visual revealed for upcoming adaptation of Hiroaki Samura's manga

The main cast, the main staff, a new key visual, and a teaser trailer have all been unveiled for Blade of the Immortal (known in Japan as Mugen no Juunin -IMMORTAL-), an upcoming anime based on the samurai seinen manga by Hiroaki Samura about a warrior who is cursed to live forever until he can atone for his sins by slaying 1000 evil men. The main staff for Blade of the Immortal includes:

The main cast for Blade of the Immortal includes:


Manji, the ronin samurai who is cursed with immortality in the Blade of the Immortal TV anime.


Kenjiro Tsuda as Manji.


Asano Rin, an orphaned girl who is looking for revenge in the Blade of the Immortal TV anime.


And Ayane Sakura as Asano Rin.



An English language version of the the original Blade of the Immortal manga is published by Dark Horse Comics, who describe the story of the series as follows: 

Manji, a ronin warrior of feudal Japan, has been cursed with immortality. To rid himself of this curse and end his life of misery, he must slay one thousand evil men! His quest begins when a young girl seeks his help in taking revenge on her parents' killers . . . and his quest won't end until the blood of a thousand has spilled!


A new key visual for the 2019 Blade of the Immortal TV anime, featuring the main characters, Manji and Asano Rin, posing amid a field of discarded weapons.


Blade of the Immortal has previously been adapted into a 2008 TV anime with direction by Koichi Mashimo and animation production by Bee Train as well as a 2017 live-action film with direction by Takashi Miike. The new Blade of the Immortal anime will be distributed exclusively on Amazon Prime Video beginning in October of 2019.
