Tatsuya Fujiwara reprises his role as the suffering pariah in new film co-written by Nobuyuki Fukumoto
A new trailer has been revealed for Kaiji: Final Game, the third live-action film adaptation based on the manga by Nobuyuki Fukumoto about a down-on-his-luck gambler who becomes embroiled in a series of deadly games for the amusement of corrupt elites.
Like the Kaiji TV anime, Kaiji: Final Game is based on the Kaiji manga, which is serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine seinen manga publication. An English language version of the original manga is in-development from Denpa Books.
Kaiji: Final Game features the hero, Kaiji Ito, confronting a quartet of bizarre games, including "The Tower of Babel", "The Final Judgment", "Dream Jump", and "Gold Paper-Scissors-Rock".
Kaiji: Final Game is directed by Toya Sato and features a screenplay by Nobuyuki Fukumoto and Yuichi Tokunaga, based on an original story by Nobuyuki Fukumoto. The film stars Tatsuya Fujiwara, reprising his role as Kaiji Ito from the 2009 and 2011 live-action Kaiji films. Kaiji: Final Game hits theaters in Japan on January 10, 2020.
