Adaptation based on violent seinen manga by Hiroaki Samura hits Amazon Prime Video in October of 2019
Nine new cast members have been revealed for Blade of the Immortal (known in Japan as Mugen no Juunin -IMMORTAL-), an upcoming anime based on the violent seinen manga by Hiroaki Samura about a ronin samurai who is cursed with immortality until he can wash his sins away in the blood of a thousand wicked men. The new cast members includes:
Yōsuke Akimoto as Anotsu Saburo.
Masato Obara as Kawakami Araya.
Jôji Nakata as Habaki Kagimura.
Marika Hayashi as Byakurin.
Hiroshi Shirokuma as Giichi.
Tōru Nara as Shira.
Chikahiro Kobayashi as Shinriji.
Tomokazu Seki as Souri.
And Ako Mayama as Yaobikuni.
The original Blade of the Immortal manga was serialized in Kodansha's Afternoon seinen manga from 1993 - 2012, and an English language version of the series is published by Dark Horse Comics, who describe the story of Blade of the Immortal as follows:
Manji, a ronin warrior of feudal Japan, has been cursed with immortality. To rid himself of this curse and end his life of misery, he must slay one thousand evil men! His quest begins when a young girl seeks his help in taking revenge on her parents' killers . . . and his quest won't end until the blood of a thousand has spilled!
Blade of the Immortal is directed by Hiroshi Hamasaki and features animation production by Liden Films. The series will begin simultaneous worldwide distribution (excluding some areas) exclusively on Amazon Prime Video beginning on October 10, 2019.
