Drifting Dragons Manga Author Comments on Anime: "I Have No Memories of Drawing Anything So Fantastic like This."
Polygon Pictures-animated adaptation is set to premiere in January 2020
At the same time as the release of its latest PV and key visual yesterday, the official website for the forthcoming TV anime adaptation of Taku Kuwabara's action fantasy manga Drifting Dragons also posted comments from the manga author and the anime's director Tadahiro "Tady" Yoshihira.
Taku Kuwabara (the original manga author):
"My honest impression when I watched the first episode that was still in production → 'I have no memories of drawing anything so fantastic like this.' The anime adaptation of Drifting Dragons is lucky to have such wonderful scripts and staff with director Tadahiro "Tady" Yoshihira as a central figure, and is produced with an unusual amount of passion and enjoyment. More than anything, I am glad that I have participated from the stage of writing scripts and has become a member of the production team as the author. I was an anime kid. The anime I watched in my childhood are still shining in my heart like a treasure. And I'm sure this Drifting Dragons anime will also become a treasure for someone. Oh, I'm so excited!"
Tadahiro "Tady" Yoshihira (the TV anime director):
"When I read the original manga, it made me wanting to create a totally new world, not ones with an ordinary fantasy setting or about dragon slaying. This is an adventure tale about a group of sailors living in the breathtakingly beautiful world on the clouds, who are full of individuality, slightly foolish, and hard-working."
The Drifting Dragons anime is set to premiere on Fuji TV's "Ultra+" programming block in January 2020, and will be also streamed on Netflix.
