Up-and-coming star takes on the role of our hero's best girl
OshiBudo protagonist Eripyo can't get enough of underground idol Maina, and we finally get to meet the voice behind the face!
The upcoming adaptation of Oshi ga Budoukan Itte Kuretara Shinu ("I'd Die for My Fave to Get to Budoukan") will star up-and-coming voice actress Hina Tachibana as Maina, the object of Eripyo's affection. While previous trailers have played up Eripyo (voiced by Ai Fairouz of How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?) and her ride-or-die dedication to the idol, a new trailer from Maina's point of view shows that at least one of them is hoping for something more:
Hina Tachibana recently debuted in the role of Nagi Hisakawa, one of the new twin idols in THE [email protected] CINDERELLA GIRLS. She will also be appearing in the upcoming CUE! mixed media project, which features a range of new voice acting talent.
The latest key visual for the anime adaptation also drives home the bond between idol and fan:
A pre-screening and talk show event will take place December 15 at Tokyo's Science Hall, featuring appearances from Fairouz, Tachibana, and others to be announced at a later dates. Tickets for the event are 2,000 yen each.
The original manga of OshiBudo has sold more than 350,000 copies. The upcoming anime will adapt the journey of underground idol group Cham Jam as it strives for stardom—in particular the growing relationship between the lesser-known Maina and her #1 fan. The series will follow both idols and their fans, with Eripyo's one wish at the forefront: to see her favorite star stand on the stage at Budoukan.
OshiBudo premieres in Japan on January 9.
