The Lupin The Third franchise official website Lupin The Third Network announced today that a newly-produced original TV special, 27th in total, Lupin The Third: Prison of the Past is set to be aired on Nihon TV and its affiliates on November 29 at 9:00 p.m. (JST).

This is a part of the "Lupin Festival 2019" weekly project. The 2013 film Lupin The Third vs. Detective Conan: The Movie will be rebroadcast in Nihon TV's same "Friday Roadshow!" block on November 22, then Lupin The Third: The First, the franchise's first full 3DCG feature film written/directed by Takashi Yamazaki (Space Battleship Yamato, Stand By Me Doraemon), will be released in Japanese theaters on December 6.

Hatsuki Tsuji (Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, Cardfight!! Vanguard) is attached to direct. He previously joined the 2015 TV series Lupin the Third Part IV as episode animation director, and this is his first directorial work for the franchise.

The "Friday Roadshow!" official website introduces the new TV special's story as "To rescue a famous gentlemen thief from imprisonment, Lupin and his team infiltrate the Kingdom of Doruenthe. While the skillful thieves from around the world are gathering, Lupin tries to reveal the secret hidden in the kingdom."
