Revue Starlight Storms the Box Office with Two Theatrical Anime Films

Compilation movie and all-new animated film announced for musical mixed media project

The girls of the Revue Starlight TV anime battle on stage to determine who is the greatest performer.


Good news for fans of musical mixed media project Revue Starlight: the singing stage battles of the series will continue in a new format with a compilation movie to be released in the Summer season of 2020 as well as an all-new, original theatrical anime film that is currently in-production. More information about both movies will be released at a later date.



Sentai Filmworks publishes Revue Starlight in the United States, and the series is available via streaming on HIDIVE and VRV. The story of Revue Starlight is described as follows:


Childhood friends Karen and Hikari made a promise that, together, they would one day become the next theatrical stars. Real life got in the way of their childhood dream when Hikari moved away, but Karen never forgot her promise. Years later, the two friends finally have their chance when they’re invited to a mysterious audition. However, the two are not the only ones who have trained for this moment, and they must now compete with others whom all share the same dream of performing on stage.

The 2018 Revue Starlight TV anime is directed by Tomohiro Furukawa and features animation production by Kinema Citrus. The staff and cast information for the two upcoming Revue Starlight theatrical films has not yet been revealed.
