Actor Ichikawa Ebizō XI directs and stars in one-day production mixing traditional kabuki with modern video technology
In anticipation of the release of Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker in December, celebrated kabuki actor and notorious Star Wars fan Ichikawa Ebizō XI is directing and starring in Star Wars Kabuki, a special one-day kabuki performance that combines traditional techniques and modern video technology to propel play-goers into the universe of Star Wars.
Star Wars Kabuki is a play in three parts focusing on themes of "familial love and loss". Ichikawa Ebizō XI plays the role of Kylo Ren, the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia Organa who has turned to the Dark Side. Star Wars Kabuki will be performed in Tokyo on November 28, 2019.
