TV Anime Dropkick on My Devil! to Get Extra Episode Thanks to Hometown Tax

The highly-anticipated second season is set to premiere in the spring of 2020

The official website for the Dropkick on My Devil! anime series announced on December 11 that the production of an extra episode "Chapter Chitose" has officially gotten a green light. Chitose-city in Hokkaido launched a hometown tax project to collect the budget for the episode on December 2 and easily reached its goal of 20 million yen only in four days.

Furusato Nouzei/Hometown Tax is a system in Japan that allows taxpayers who live in urban areas to contribute to rural areas with subtraction from income tax and residence tax, and the cities send their local products to donors in return. Furusato means hometown in Japanese, but in addition to their own hometown, taxpayers can pay tax anywhere they like or would love to help and encourage.

The reason Chitose-city has joined the Jashin-chan anime hometown tax project is voice actress Aina Suzuki, the voice cast of the anime's protagonist Jashin-chan, was born in the city in 1995. It was launched as the city's tourism promotion project and had collected 50.34 million yen, about 2.5 times more than its initial goal, by December 9. The donation will be accepted until December 31.

Donors with more than 50,000 yen will receive a Blu-ray disc of the "Chapter Chitose" episode with their names in the anime's ending credit, while donors with more than 30,000 yen will receive a Blu-ray disc without their names. The discs are scheduled to be shipped after July 2020.

As reported, the TV anime second season Dropkick on My Devil!! Dash is set to premiere in the spring of 2020.
