"Kingdom" and "Tonde Saitama" are selected as "Excellent Film of the Year"
The Japan Academy Film Prize Association announced the nominees for this year's 43rd Japan Academy Prize today on January 15. All nominees receive "Awards of Excellence."
Two live-action film adaptations of Japanese manga, Kingdom (based on Yasuhisa Hara's historical manga) and Tonde Saitama (Mineo Maya's comedy) are selected as "Excellent Film of the Year," alongside Shimbun Kisha, Heisa Byoutou - Sorezore no Asa-, and Hachimitsu to Enrai. And the directors of the two films, Shinsuke Sato and Hideki Takeuchi are also included in "Excellent director of the year." The Grand Prize will be presented in a ceremony to be held in Tokyo on March 6, 2020.
