Naked Young Men Enjoy Campus Life in Grand Blue Live-Action Film Trailer

Tsutomu Hanabusa (Kakegurui)-directed comedy will open in Japan on May 29

The official website for the forthcoming live-action film adaptation of Kenji Inoue (story) and Kimitake Yoshioka (art)'s seinen manga Grand Blue has started streaming a 90-second full trailer featuring its theme song "Zekkyou Serenade" performed by a four-member rock band sumika.

The trailer begins with a scene where Iori Kitahara (Ryo Ryusei / Daigo Kiryu/ Kyoryu Red in Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger), who entered Izu University on a remote island, rides a boat in the hope of dreams, friendship, and love. However, instead of the beginning of their dream campus life, Iori and Kohei Imamura (Atsuhiro Inukai / Sento Kiryu/Kamen Rider Build in Kamen Rider Build) somehow became completely naked on the morning of the orientation. Then, they are surrounded by men with macho bodies saying, "Welcome to Peek a Boo!".

The scuba diving-themed comedy manga has been serialized in Kodansha's Good! Afternoon since April 2014 and has released 14 tankobon volumes with a total print run of 4.4 million copies. The live-action film adaptation is written/directed by Tsutomu Hanabusa (Sadako 3D, Heroine Shikkaku, Kakegurui) and is set to be released in Japan on May 29, 2020.
