Revue Starlight Karen VA Momoyo Koyama Takes a Hiatus for Vocal Cord Nodule Surgery

"I will prepare to be in perfect condition by the time we will meet again."

24-year-old anime voice actress Momoyo Koyama announced on her official blog today on April 23 that she will take a hiatus from singing activities by the end of May for having a vocal cord nodule surgery soon. She is best known as Sailor Mercury in the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon musicals and the voice of the protagonist Karen Aijo in the Revue Starlight franchise. Most recently, she played Elma in the winter 2020 TV anime Interspecies Reviewers.

According to the blog post, she has had a problem with her vocal cord for the recent three years, "I went to the hospital and deceived the problem with drugs. When I rest, it gets a little smaller and better, but it gets worse when the schedule becomes tight." The situation has frustrated her because she had not been able to perform with the quality she wanted so many times, especially at the high end of her voice. After the discussion with the doctor, she decided to have the surgery to cut it off, rather than deceiving it with medicine.

She writes, "I will prepare to be in perfect condition by the time we will meet again. To deliver my healthy voice to everyone and to show my more powerful look, I will continue to do my best. Thank you!!!!!!!"
