Japan's No.1 Bodybuilder Becomes Official Supporter of Baki Anime

"The way I have lived my life and my way of thinking is all I have learned from Baki."

The official website for the web anime adaptation of Keisuke Itagaki's martial arts manga Baki announced today that 25-year-old professional bodybuilder Naotaka Yokokawa is appointed as its official supporter.

He was the winner of the JBBF Japan Bodybuilding Championship in 2019 and known as a big fan of the manga series, especially Yujiro Hanmma called "the strongest creature on earth." Actually, he started training after longing for Yujiro and has become a bodybuilder representing Japan.

He says, "I can't believe it. I can't believe it, more than when I won the bodybuilding championship in Japan. It is like a dream, my efforts have finally paid off. I feel so glad that I have continued to love Baki and Yujiro Hanma. I grew up reading Baki and admiring Yujiro, then I have finally come this far. The way I have lived my life and my way of thinking is all I have learned from Baki. Thanks to Baki, a person named Naotaka Yokokawa was completed. It's the very essence of my youth. If it weren't for Baki, I wouldn't exist."

Following the 26-episode first season in 2018, the second season of the web anime Baki is set to start streaming on Netflix on June 4, 2020.
