Gakuto Mikumo's Light Novel Strike the Blood's Main Story to Be Concluded in Next 22nd Volume

No parallel story featuring another heroine is planned

Dengeki Online reported on June 3 that the main story of Gakuto Mikumo's action sci-fi fantasy light novel series Strike the Blood will be concluded in its next 22nd volume "Akatsuki no Gaisen" (Triumphant Return of the Dawn or Akatsuki's Triumphant Return) to be released in Japan on August 7, 2020.

The series started publishing from KADOKAWA's Dengeki Bunko imprint in May 2011 and its latest 21st volume was released in January 2020. It has been adapted into a 24-episode TV anime in 2013-2014, and four OVAs have been produced since 2015.

On his official Twitter, the author Mikumo explained why it was called "the conclusion of the main story" in the announcement.

"The reason why it's called 'the conclusion of the main story' is because there are already plans to write bonus materials for the OVA and extra short stories after this (if it's only 'the conclusion,' I may feel like 'it should have been finished, but why?' and I can't keep my motivation up), so the announcement was made like this."

And unfortunately for the fans, he also added,

"Therefore, no parallel story featuring another heroine will begin after the main story ends. I'm sorry...!"

Novel 1st and 21st volume covers:
