Urges people to not visit the former site of Studio 1
Kyoto Animation announced on their website on July 3 that the beloved animation studio will be streaming a memorial video on the first anniversary of the arson attack on the studio that claimed the lives of 36 employees and staff members. The memorial video will be streamed on the Kyoto Animation YouTube channel on July 18 at 10:30 AM Japan Time and will be available to watch on the platform afterward.
The studio said in a blog post on its website that it had planned to hold the service in person, but due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, choose to have the service online instead "with the aim of prevention of gathering." The memorial video will be streamed live from 10:30 AM, with a moment of silence for those who lost their lives at 10:35 AM, both Japan Time. The stream will be in Japanese only.
