Street Life is Wild in Ikebukuro West Gate Park TV Anime Trailer

Adaptation based on novel series by Ira Ishida hits Japanese TV in October of 2020

Makoto, the protagonist of the upcoming Ikebukuro West Gate Park TV anime, flashes a cocky grin in a scene from the upcoming anime series.


Life is dangerous and thrilling in the mean streets of the Tokyo underground in a new trailer for Ikebukuro West Gate Park, an upcoming TV anime based on the series of urban mystery novels written by Ira Ishida. The preview video features narration by voice actor Kentaro Kumagai, who plays the main character, Makoto, in the TV anime adaptation.



The original Ikebukuro West Gate Park novels are published in Japan by Bungeishunjū. The novels have also been adapted into a manga with artwork by Sena Aritou, and an English language version of this manga is available from Digital Manga Publishing. The story of Ikebukuro West Gate Park is described as follows:


Ikebukuro West Gate Park, beside Ikebukuro Station in Tokyo is the district where Makoto lives. He is the son of the Majima family who owns a fruit store. Makoto is the so-called “trouble shooter of Ikebukuro” and he solves complicated issues that relate to gangs and the Yakuza, problems that even the police can’t handle. In Ikebukuro, a place where all kinds of people live, Makoto is friendly to everyone and does not belong to any gang or organization. Yet he frequently receives dangerous and exciting requests....


“A town of love, peace and kindness unto all, Yeah, Ikebukuro is the best! ”

He who protects the order of Ikebukuro is asked to solve a troublesome case that threatens the peace of the town....
