Honoka Matsumoto and Toshiki Seto are cast as two childhood friends
With a teaser visual and a 30-second teaser trailer, the official website for Digital Network Animation's upcoming original anime film Kimi wa Kanata (literally means You are far away) has announced that it is set to be released in Japan on November 27, 2020.
Honoka Matsumoto (Yoko Hinageshi in Ride Your Wave) and Toshiki Seto (Hiiro Kagami/Kamen Rider Brave in Kamen Rider Ex-Aid) are cast as the film's two main characters, Mio and Arata. Yoshinobu Sena, known as the creator of the mystery game app series VAMPIRE HOLMES, makes his anime feature film directorial debut.
Ikebukuro in Toshima Ward has provided full support for the production of the film, and the clip narrated by Matsumoto depicts the real-life streets of the city, including the Seibu Department Store, PARCO, Bic Camera, and the Tokyo Sakura Tram (Toden Arakawa Line). Meanwhile, the teaser visual features the two childhood friend characters standing in front of the east exit of Ikebukuro Station.
The story is set in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. Mio has been interested in his childhood friend Arata but unable to convey her feelings. On her way in the rain to reconcile with Arata, who had fought over a little thing with her, she was involved in a traffic accident. When she regains consciousness and opens her eyes, there is a mysterious world that she has never seen before...
