Virtual Crunchyroll Expo Reveals Full Schedule

Get ready for 24 hours of V-CRX 2020 on September 4-6

Virtual Crunchyroll Expo Schedule

This year’s Crunchyroll Expo 2020 is going fully online, and there’s no shortage of events to take part in over the September 4-6 weekend. You can check out the full Virtual Crunchyroll Expo schedule right here and get your calendar together for all the best panels, screenings, and additional activities for a weekend like no other. Best of all, registration is completely free!

Before we dive into some of the schedule highlights, what makes this year’s event special, and what separates it from your average online convention in 2020? To find out, we turned to Crunchyroll Events Director Adam Sheehan for some insight.

“What I think sets Virtual Crunchyroll Expo apart is the overall feeling that it's more than just a live stream on YouTube,” said Sheehan. “On top of great programming, V-CRX has a Shopping District full of online exhibitors, an Arts District full of amazing artists from all over the world. In addition to that there are things for fans to engage with like our Onyx Equinox scavenger hunt and Yuzu's Cat Café over in our Super Arcade. This is just a taste of what we have planned for Virtual Crunchyroll Expo coming up in just a few weeks!”

Crunchyroll’s Head of Events, Mary Franklin, touched upon the aspects of V-CRX that make it accessible to so many different people and time zones:

“Thinking about our fans all over the world was one of the main reasons we worked to develop V-CRX On Demand,” she explained. “From 10:00 am Pacific on Friday, September 4 to 10:00 am Pacific on Monday, September 7, attendees can enjoy content non-stop, 24 hours per day. We wanted fans to be able to take in the show during convenient times wherever they live. Also, because we have multiple live streams during the show, V-CRX On Demand will let them catch shows they missed while watching something else.”

Many different languages were also taken into account with the help of the Crunchyroll International team. “Not only have teams submitted panels in Spanish, Russian, French and German, we are also subtitling key content in those languages and Portuguese,” Franklin continued. “Our virtual Arts District will feature artists from Australia, Brazil, Russia and more countries.”

Virtual Crunchyroll Expo: The Districts

Welcome back to New Crunchy City! V-CRX is split up into four different districts, each of which has its own special content to enjoy. Areas you’ll be able to explore include:

Anime Arts District

In the Anime Arts District, V-CRX attendees will be able to access the artist alley, featuring over 150 artists complete with special offers unique to the weekend event.

Central Shopping District

Missing the ever-present exhibitors hall at cons this year? V-CRX has its own take, with some of the biggest names participating. Look for everything from Aniplex of America to VIZ Media and beyond on the virtual show floor.

Theater District

From 10:00am to 10:00pm Pacific Time each day during V-CRX, the theater district will have a ton of content on tap. All the big events and panels can be found on the CR Stage and Hime Stage, the latter of which will be host to Crunchyroll-Hime’s Cosplay Cup, sponsored by Bokksu. You can also look forward to fan panels on Yuzu Stage, a mix of awesome content on Sudachi stage, and the ability to rewatch almost all of it via V-CRX VOD.

Super Arcade

Whether you’re looking for some feline fun at Yuzu’s Cat Café—which will feature an adorable stream from Kitty Academy—or just need a place to chill with lo-fi beats to relax to in the Quiet Room, the Super Arcade has everything else you could want from a con. Attendees will also be able to get their hands on special virtual schwag and even attend the Anime Rave. It’s 24 hours of entertainment, all in one place!
