A tense new trailer and the Japanese TV schedule have been published for Ikebukuro West Gate Park (known as IWGP for short), an upcoming TV anime based on the series of urban mystery novels written by Ira Ishida about a young man who acts as a mediator between rival street gangs in his home town in modern Tokyo.

The original Ikebukuro West Gate Park novels are published in Japan by Bungeishunjū. The novels have also been adapted into a manga with artwork by Sena Aritou, and an English language version of this manga is available from Digital Manga Publishing. Funimation describes the story of Ikebukuro West Gate Park as follows:

Based on a series of urban mystery novels (and their live-action adaptation), IWGP follows the coolheaded Makoto as he navigates the pressures of an encroaching gang life in the G-Boys due to his friend, King, being a leader. Makoto sees an opportunity to become a troubleshooter for the gang as a way to keep things calm and protect his friends, but when someone close to him is killed and a rival gang kicks off a turf war, Makoto will find it a bit tough to stay cool.

The Ikebukuro West Gate Park TV anime is directed by Tomoaki Koshida and features animation production by Doga Kobo. The series will broadcast in Japan according to the following TV schedule:

  • AT-X: every Tuesday during the 21:00 time slot beginning on October 06, 2020.
  • TOKYO MX: every Tuesday during the 24:30 time slot beginning on October 06, 2020.

  • BS11: every Wednesday during the 24:00 time slot beginning on October 07, 2020.

Please note that some Japanese TV schedules count early-morning programming as late night programming of the previous day, so for example the 25:35 time slot on Wednesday evening is actually on Thursday morning at 1:35am JST.

Ikebukuro West Gate Park will also be simulcast in the United States by Funimation.
