Re:ZERO OP Singer Konomi Suzuki Goes on Hiatus to Repair Her Voice

An official statement was posted on Suzuki's website

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-

The singer of the first Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- opening theme for the first and second season Konomi Suzuki announced on her website today that she'll be taking a short break from the industry "to undergo treatment for her vocal cord nodules" which have been causing her pain for the last four years.

Translated statement from her agency on Konomi Suzuki's website:

Thank you for your continued support of Konomi Suzuki.

We would like to inform you that Suzuki will be taking a leave of absence from December 1, 2020, to undergo treatment for her vocal cord nodules.

There will be no cancellations of any shows or events that she is currently scheduled to perform.

As for her activities as a singer, Suzuki is scheduled to return on January 31, 2021, at ANIMAX MUSIX.

A translated comment from Konomi Suzuki herself about the issues:

Out of the blue, I have decided to have surgery for vocal nodes.

I've been suffering from this problem for about 4 years now, but I've been trying to sing as much as I can with this throat because I'm afraid I don't know how my voice will change, but now I have to rest even though I want to do my best.

This year, my agency changed, and I'm feeling more confident in my goals. I feel an intense passion that I want to sing more, so I've finally decided to do what I've been stressing about for the last 4 years.

There were so many days that I was frustrated, but I was able to sing in spite of the issues because of everyone who supported me.

Thank you so much for all your love and support. I'm going to return your love with the best voice you've ever heard.

I will do my best to rehabilitate myself so that I will be able to return to work on January 31, 2021, at ANIMAX MUSIX, so please wait for me.

Other than Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Suzuki has sung the opening themes to WATAMOTENo Game No Life, as well as the ending theme to CHAOS;CHILD, and many more. We wish Suzuki a painless recovery and hope she'll be able to sing her heart out again!
