Adaptation based on Hajime Musashino's full-contact sports manga hits TV Tokyo in April of 2021
Another cast member has been revealed for Burning Kabaddi (known as Shakunetsu Kabaddi in Japan), an upcoming TV anime based on the full-contact sports manga by Hajime Musashino about a former soccer player who gets sucked into the world of a highly physical and competitive sport that originates in India.
In Burning Kabaddi, Tatsuhisa Suzuki plays Kyouhei Misumi, a 2nd year high school student and member of the kabaddi club at Noukin High. Kyouhei was a delinquent in junior high and decided to clean up his image when he entered high school, but Kei Iura held on to video evidence of Kyouhei's past behavior and "encouraged" him to join the kabaddi club. Kyouhei has been playing kabaddi for about a year and a month.
The story of Burning Kabaddi follows Tatsuya Yoigoshi, a former soccer ace who gave up sports after graduating from middle school. One day Tatsuya is scouted by Masato Ohjyo, the captain of the Noukin High School kabaddi club. Tatsuya is convinced that kabaddi is just a joke, but his athletic instincts awaken when he attends a practice match and discovers that the sport is actually closer to a martial arts competition.
Burning Kabaddi is directed by Kazuya Ichikawa and features animation production by TMS Entertainment. The series is scheduled to broadcast in Japan on TV Tokyo and other stations beginning in April of 2021.
