Vampire Drama MARS RED Snags Two Lupin the 3rd Stars for Its Cast
Koichi Yamadera and Miyuki Sawashiro will be joining the adaptation this spring

Historical vampire drama MARS RED is adding a new pair of characters to its cast... and, funnily enough, the two accomplished stars already share a lot of screen time!
Joining the established cast will be Koichi Yamadera and Miyuki Sawashiro, who are both part of the current core cast of Lupin the 3rd as Inspector Zenigata and Fujiko Mine, respectively. Yamadera (also known for voicing Spike Spiegel in Cowboy Bebop) will appear as Tokuichi Yamagami:
Sawashiro (who made her debut as Puchiko in Di Gi Charat) will reprise the role of Defrott, whom she played in both the 2013 and 2015 staged readings:
MARS RED is based on a staged reading by Bun-O Fujisawa — the first performance of its kind to receive an anime adaptation. Set in 1923, the story follows Code Zero, a vampiric military unit reassigned to investigating a recent increase in vampire activity and the emergence of a new artificial blood source. Funimation has licensed the series for release in North America.
As confirmed in today's announcement, MARS RED will premiere in April 2021.
