The official website for the Shin Ultraman film announced today that the upcoming "reconstruction" of the Ultraman franchise will be released in early Summer 2021. The film, written by Evangelion's Hideaki Anno and directed by Shin Godzilla's Shinji Higuchi, is said to have the same impact on the original Ultra series as Shin Godzilla did on updating the original Godzilla film for the modern era.

The Tokusatsu Archive Center is opening in Sukagawa City because it was the birthplace of the "God of Tokusatsu", Eiji Tsuburaya, the creator of the Ultraman franchise, the co-creator of Godzilla, and founder of Tsuburaya Productions, who is producing the upcoming Shin Ultraman film alongside Toho and Studio Khara, Anno's own production house. The Center will open fully to the public on November 3.
Shin Ultraman opens in cinemas in Japan in early Summer 2021.
