Key visuals, cast, and preview videos revealed for upcoming adaptation inspired by Mori Chack's mascot character
Gloomy Bear, a grizzly mascot character created by Osakan artist Mori Chack, is going to maul his owner in animated form beginning in April of 2021 because the "creepy kawaii", 2-meter tall wild animal is now the subject of an upcoming TV anime entitled Gloomy The Naughty Grizzly (aka Itazura no Gloomy in Japan). Preview videos and key visuals (below) have been published for the series.
Debuting in 2000, the Gloomy Bear merchandise line focuses on the relationship between Gloomy and his owner, Pity, a relationship which is "full of cuteness, violence, and surprising emotional depth". Pity loves Gloomy very much, but Gloomy is still a wild animal, so he tends to claw and bite Pity without mercy.
In the Gloomy The Naughty Grizzly TV anime, Yuudai Kubota serves as director while voice actors Koichi Yamadera (Spike Spiegel in Cowboy Bebop) and Natsuki Hanae (Tanjiro Kamado in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) will provide the voices of Gloomy and Pity, respectively.
