The anime of the year award was selected from the top anime film and TV series from October 1, 2019, to September 30, 2020, with votes from the general public for the nominations and then chosen by a select range of anime industry professionals. The Anime Fan Award was the anime with the most votes in a public poll on Twitter.
Kyoto Animation art director Mikiko Watanabe has won the award for the second year in the row posthumously, after passing away in the arson attack on Kyoto Animation in July 2019. Both Akira Matsushima and Yuki Kajiura have won two years in a row for similar works.
Congratulations to all the winners from the last year, very well deserved!
