Anime Expo 2021 Physical Event Canceled, Anime Expo Lite Returns
2021 marks the Anime Expo event's 30th anniversary

Anime Expo announced today that with the continued uncertainties surrounding COVID-19, the physical Anime Expo event in Los Angeles scheduled to be held between July 2-5 will be canceled. Ray Chiang, the CEO of The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA) announced the cancellation in a press release on the Anime Expo website.
Chiang went on to confirm that Anime Expo Lite, the online virtual convention held last year, will return for the July 4 weekend.
