Evangelion is currently the 10th highest-grossing film of 2021
Toei released the updated box office numbers for Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time today, revealing that the final Evangelion film from creator Hideaki Anno had made more than 6.89 billion yen at the Japanese box office, continuing its reign at number one at the Japanese box office, it being the highest-grossing domestic Japanese film of the year, and being in the worldwide box-office top 10.
Over the next week, Studio Khara will be releasing six character trailers for Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 over the next six days set to the Da Capo version of "Beautiful World" by Hikaru Utada, starting with Shinji Ikari today:

In total, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 has made 6,898,613,200 yen (US$62,343,436) at the Japanese box office off the back of 4,513,374 tickets sold in just 28 days. This makes the Evangelion film the 10th biggest film of the year around the world, though it is unlikely to stay there very long with the US opening up theaters and new films finally being released around the world.
Domestically, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 has outgrossed every other Eva film in yen, but remains the second highest-grossing worldwide after Evangelion: 3.0, though will likely surpass its predecessor with just its Japanese domestic release.
Evangelion 3.0+1.0 finally opened in Japan after being delayed twice due to the coronavirus pandemic on March 8, breaking franchise records on the first day and eventually becoming the highest-grossing film in the franchise in Japan in less than a month. It is the longest film in the franchise (not including compilations or special screenings). There is no word yet on an international release of the film.
