Japanese New Pokémon Snap Players Will Get The Chance to Print Off Photos Like It's 1999

Convenience store Lawson will let players print off photos snapped in the game

New Pokémon Snap

For those that played the original Pokémon Snap on the Nintendo 64 in 1999, one of the fondest memories would be going down to your local Blockbuster in North American (or Toys "R" Us and Myer for those in Australia like me) and physically printing off the grainy images straight from the N64 cart.

For the release of New Pokémon Snap, Japanese convenience store Lawson is once again collaborating with Pokémon (they were the partners in the 90s as well) to open up a system where Japanese players can print off their semi-HD snaps of Pokémon from the Lental region and their Nintendo Switch systems.

For Poké-tographers in Japan, to get the image onto Lawson's special website, they must download the images from the Nintendo Switch systems, and then upload them to Lawson's website, where they will be given a code that can be used at participating Lawson stores around Japan (which are those with a printer and scanner) and physically printed off. It's like we've traveled back in time–just with more modern conveniences!

The special site and service opens on April 30 at midday, just a few hours after New Pokémon Snap releases on the Nintendo Switch in Japan. Gotta snap 'em all!
