The "final" Eva film launches worldwide on the service on August 13

Ahead of the revised version of the final Evangelion film launching on Amazon Prime Video around the world on August 13, the streaming service on Saturday at [email protected] 2021 released a brand new English-subbed preview of Evangelion 3.0+1.01: Thrice Upon a Time, showing the opening titles of the film with Shinji, Rei (tentative), and Asuka walking through the impact-scared landscape of what used to be Japan.

Evangelion 3.0+1.0 finally opened in Japan after being delayed twice due to the coronavirus pandemic on March 8, breaking franchise records on the first day and eventually becoming the highest-grossing film in the franchise in Japan in less than a month, then the highest-grossing worldwide in 35 days, and finally the 9th highest-grossing anime film in Japan of all-time. It is the longest film in the franchise (not including compilations or special screenings). The film finished in Japan on July 21, grossing 10.22 billion yen ($91.84 million) at the Japanese box office to be the 35th highest-grossing film in the region.
An updated version of the film, Evangelion 3.0+1.01, was released in Japanese theaters on June 12. Evangelion 3.0+1.01: Thrice Upon a Time will stream on Amazon Prime Video in 240 countries, including Japan, with English subtitles and dubbed from August 13.
