Mainland Tourist Brings Trouble in "Deji" Meets Girl TV Anime PV

New cast member and Japanese broadcast details revealed for upcoming short form TV anime

Maise Higa grows bored working at the front desk of her family's hotel and complains to a little Shiisaa statue in a scene from the upcoming "Deji" Meets Girl TV anime.

Summer break takes a turn for the strange in a new preview video for "Deji" Meets Girl, an upcoming original short form TV anime about a young girl whose boring days helping at her family's hotel in Okinawa grow more exciting by the minute with the arrival of a stranger from the mainland surrounded by weird phenomena.

The preview video (below) reveals that voice actor Tatsuyuki Kobayashi will play the role of "Ichiro Suzuki", a mysterious young man who travels from Tokyo to visit Okinawa.

"Deji" Meets Girl follows the adventures of Maise Higa, a 16 year old high school student who is pressed into helping out as a part-time front desk clerk at her family's hotel in Okinawa. What seems like a boring way to spend her summer break takes a strange turn with the arrival of "Ichiro Suzuki", a guest from the mainland who brings weird phenomena with him, such as fish floating in midair and an enormous banyan tree sprouting through the roof of the hotel. "Deji" is an Okinawan word that means "troublesome" or "a lot".

A key visual for the "Deji" Meets Girl TV anime, featuring a scene at the beach where Ichiro Suzuki (?) hovers in mid-air in an innertube surrounded by floating fish, swimming gear, and tourist knicknacks while Maise Higa looks on in astonishment.

"Deji" Meets Girl is directed by Ushio Tazawa and features animation production by Liden Films. The series will broadcast on the tail end of the Mainichi Broadcasting System / Tokyo Broadcasting System's "Super Animeism" programming block beginning in October of 2021, and each episode will be approximately 90 seconds in length.
