The Detective is Already Dead Novel Author Says Nothing Has Been Decided about TV Anime Season 2

The novel's latest sixth volume hits Japanese stores today

In addition to introducing a forthcoming new PV for his The Detective is Already Dead light novel series, the author Nigozyu also talked about the possibility of the highly-anticipated second season of the TV anime on Twitter: "Nothing has been decided at this time."

One day before the release of its latest sixth volume in Japan, the official Twitter for the novel series announced last night that a new PV will be posted at 20:00 (JST) / 03:00 (PT) on November 25, saying "It is so amazing that you will be amazed at how well it is produced, so we hope you will enjoy it along with the sixth volume."

Fans' expectations were raised that the PV might contain the announcement for the second season of the TV anime, but the novel's editor O quickly denied the speculation on Twitter: "If you see this PV without any prior information, you would definitely think 'The announcement for the second season!?' So I'll tell you beforehand, there will be no announcement for the second season...!"

Then, the author Nigozyu himself also replied: "It's a clever trap that a meaningful PV to be released at the perfect timing of the release of the new volume and the series' second anniversary is not an announcement for an anime sequel !!! (laughs) Hopefully we'll get to make an announcement about it someday--. Nothing has been decided at this time, though!!!"

The first volume of the novel was published from KADOKAWA's MF Bunko J imprint in November 2019, and its circulation tripled in a year to reach 850,000 copies, mainly thanks to the well-received TV anime adaptation that aired from July to September of this year.
