Check Out the Non-Credit OP for Shine On! Bakumatsu Bad Boys

Original TV anime hits Japanese TV in July and will also stream on Crunchyroll

The main characters - a band of Shinsengumi impostors - rides into battle in a wooden cart with their weapons drawn and sheathed in mystic light in a scene from the Shine On! Bakumatsu Bad Boys TV anime.


Shine On! Bakumatsu Bad Boys (known in Japan as Bucchigire!), an original TV anime about a group of condemned criminals posing as deceased members of the Shinsengumi in order to protect Kyoto from a shadowy organization, is heading to Japanese airwaves soon, and now you can sample a non-credit version of the show's hard rocking opening animation.


The non-credit OP video (below) features the official opening theme song for the series, entitled "Ichiban Hikare! -Bucchigire-", which is performed by Takanori Nishikawa.

Crunchyroll describes the story of Shine On! Bakumatsu Bad Boys as follows:


In the era when samurai controlled Japan... The Masked Demons annihilated all but one member of the Shinsengumi, who had worked to maintain the peace and public order in Kyoto. Seven criminals are chosen as substitutes for the deceased Shinsengumi members, and they are led by Ichibanboshi, whose parents were also killed by the Masked Demons. He becomes a substitute for Commander Isami Kondo and goes after the Masked Demons with the other substitutes to avenge his parents' deaths. Former criminals rise up to restore peace and order as their crazy story begins! Now is the time to shine the brightest!

Shine On! Bakumatsu Bad Boys is directed by Tetsuo Hirakawa and features animation production by Geno Studio. The series is scheduled to broadcast in Japan on TOKYO MX and BS11 beginning on July 08, 2022, and it will also stream on Crunchyroll as part of the summer 2022 anime simulcast lineup.
